Knights Win Scrimmage
The Santa Clarita Knights came out with a new attitude for the 2008 season as they took on the Pac Veiw Sabers. The Knights set the tone early on defense and controlled the line of scrimmage battle throughout. The Knights shut down the Sabers run game and came away with a 35-7 win. We would like to thank the Sabers for allowing us to come out and play them.
Knights Merge with Spartans
The Santa Clarita Knights and the Golden State Spartans have announced that they have agreed to merge the teams together for the 2008 season. After weeks of negotiations, both teams came to an agreement that will benefit both organizations and help make for a competitive squad in the upcoming season. Some key decisions, the team name, colors, and home/practice fields, were very important things that were taken care almost immediately. The team will stay with the Santa Clarita Knights name and colors. The practice fields will alternate between Heritage Park in Valencia and a location to be named later. The game field, as it stands right now will remain Vasquez High School in Acton. The six owners, three from each team, are in talks right now with Pierce College about the possibility of using the field for home games. Interviews with all six owners will be posted soon.

Knights Induct First Player Into Team Hall Of Fame!
OL/LB John Michael Angel, #41, will be the first player in Knights history to be inducted into the teams Hall of Fame. The announcement came Monday evening and here is what Angel, 23, had to say.
Q. What did you expect when you first entered semipro football?
Bigger players, LOL. It's true even the size of the teams we played didn't really strike me as "semi pro" sized players. As well as a more developed sense of sportsmanship. I've never seen so many adults act like such children. Which is why I thank God I got to play for the Knights. Class acts all of them.
Q. What were you thoughts on the Knights as an organization?
It was without a doubt the best run team in the league. If it weren't for lack of team size and the fact some people just didn't deserve to be on that team, we would be back to back league champs. And you can quote me on that.
Q. What did you take away from your 2 years at this level?
Work ethic. I think I brought a pretty good one with me, but when you look around a huddle and see that everyone there needs you to be strong so they can be strong. It makes you work harder. Makes want to not let them down. Not to mention all the great people I met. Not just good ball players but good human beings as well.
Q. What will you miss the most now that you are 99% retired?
Looking around the huddle. Both sides, haha. Seeing guys that want to be better and will prove it on every play. And Practice. I know everyone wants to play but practice was just as fun as some of the games.
Q. Is there a chance you will strap on the Knights helmet again?
Never say never you know. There will always be a chance I might come back. The only other team I'd ever play for would be the Carolina Panthers and they haven't got back to me about my workout tape yet. LOL
Q. What is your most memorable moment from your career?
The Stallions game year 1 when I almost broke the single game tackling record. I messed up so many times in that game and still had like 16-17 tackles. Got player of the week too.
Q. What one thing would you want to change from your career?
Less injuries my second year. I needed to be out there and I felt I let the team down by being out.
Q. Which team did you like to play against the most?
Sin City Express year 1. Their nose guard was just hammering me all game but never once said anything negative to me. Just told me how to block more effectively against him. Kept me positive even though he was kicking my butt. Didn't hear much smack talk from them. Reminded me of us, class wise anyway.
Q. How about the least?
Predators, hands down. Talk the most trash, had the worst attitudes.
Q. How do you feel your legacy with the team will be remembered?
Never quit, I think sums it up. "Look at that little guy go!" people will say. He hits and gets hit but never stays down, and never quits.
Q. What do you want to be remembered for?
Never backing down. Not giving a damn about the size of the guy on the other side of the ball just going heads up with him and holding your own. Yeah that's what I want to be remembered for.
Q. Finally, what do you want to say to your former teammates?
You guys are without a doubt the oddest team of Football players I have ever seen. But I have never been happier on a Football field then when I strapped on that Knights helmet and went to war with you guys. I'll never forget all the things I've learned and good times I've shared with you guys. I miss all of you, keep fighting till that last whistle blow fellas.
Q. Anything else you would like to say?
Tim, thank you for everything. Without your constent motivation and support I really don't think I would have done as well as I did. I truly mean that. Thanks again.
The Knights also announced that they will retire #41 at the home opener for the 2008 season.
