Cal-Hi All State Teams

All-State Football: First Team

Mr. Football Player of the Year Dillon Baxter headlines strong contingent of San Diegans, who nab five of the 30 first-team positions. We went with two wideouts on offense, a 4-3-4 on defense and the usual six on multi-purpose. This is the 31st annual CalHiSports.com All-State Team and we produce what is regarded as perhaps the best package of all-state teams in the nation.

All-State Football: 2nd & 3rd Teams

Here are 30 more of the state's top players, honored for their achievements during the 2009 season. We also have 70 on third team for seniors only and large schools only.

All-State Football: Medium Schools

This is the one division that collected all of the talent from CIF Division III state champ Serra of Gardena along with Oaks Christian of Westlake Village. A whopping total of 13 players combined from those teams gobbled up spots on either first team or second team. Marin Catholic of Kentfield, St. Joseph of Santa Maria and Cathedral Catholic of San Diego all have multiple honorees as well.

All-State Football: Small Schools

Previously announced player of the year Tyler Bray leads group of three from Kingsburg on first or second team. School with the most honorees, though, is CIF small schools state champ Modesto Christian with four.

All-State Football: Underclass

In most years, there's a few sophomores strong enough to earn a slot on either first or second team all-state underclass. Not so for this year. It's an all-junior cast of 60 players, broken up into first team and second team. Grant of Sacramento leads the way with four honorees.

All-State Football: Sophomores

Here's the first of several installments being posted over the next 48 hours honoring the best of California prep football from the 2009 season. Westlake is the only school with two players on this squad. Go inside to see which freshman caught our attention.
