SCLA Season Gets Underway
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 10:36AM The Southern California Lacrosse Association will start its' 2010 season this Saturday, 2/27 at Peppertree Park. The SCLA offers lacrosse participation for boys and girls from grades 3-8.
Players are separated by grade as opposed to age/weight as in football. The SCLA has an unprecedented number of participants this season. Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and has established footholds in Orange County, San Diego and the South Bay.
The SCLA has offered lacrosse to youth in the Conejo Valley for several years. Expansion to include Simi Valley in '09 and Santa Clarita this season demonstrates the interest and potential for the sports growth in these hotbeds for youth sports.
The Santa Clarita Wildcats formed a lacrosse team this year as an extension of their successful football program. The team has a 26 player roster and has demonstrated it's quick adaption to the game as it prepares for the highly competitive SCLA season.
