Youth Leagues Align

James McGoldrick, USA Gridiron

The Gold Coast Youth Football League and Golden League Youth Football have agreed to an alliance for the 2010 season.  The leagues will participate in a series of non-league games matching their respective teams in five age/weight classifications.

The alliance was developed based on the leagues mutual desire to expand their footprints and secure additional quality competition.  Both leagues share similar values of providing a safe and positive experience for youth in their communities.

The Golden League Chapter Presidents unanimously agreed to adjust their age/weight parameters to be in line with the GCYFL, ensuring scheduling of safe and competitive games.  In addition, teams will be matched based on their level of experience and skill.  Games will include the following divisions (GCYFL/GLYF): Mighty Mite (8 and Under), Bantam/Jr. Pee Wee (10U), Junior I/Pee Wee (12U), Junior II/Jr. Midget (13U) and Senior/Midget (14U).

The GCYFL has 14 Chapters stretching from Ventura to the Santa Clarita Valley.  The GCYFL will field over 100 teams in six age/weight divisions for 2010.  The GLYF has six Chapters with a total of 40 teams across five divisions, all based in the Antelope Valley.
