Top quarterback is headed to Chaminade

Brad Kaaya, a 6-foot-4 quarterback who was the backup at Encino Crespi last season as a sophomore, has applied to enroll at West Hills Chaminade.

If he's accepted into Chaminade, he'd be a big-time transfer for the Eagles. Last season, he showed tremendous potential, almost leading the Celts to an upset over Alemany when inserted because of an injury to starter Cody Cordell.

He would have competed for the starting job against Cordell this fall. He was 30 of 48 for 437 yards and six touchdowns in limited action.

Chaminade returns running back Terrell Newby and several key receivers.

I saw the kid play, he's amazing, a great leader and a competitior. Look out for this kid in upcoming years.

Saw Brad Kaaya play as Frosh against Servite. He was a solid pro style QB. He made an impression and my day by beating Servite, since I was scouting for another OC squad.. It's always good to see So Cal kids with potential to play at next level. Keep at it, Kaaya, your athletic ceiling is very high. Now if we could just get our CA stars to all stay PAC 12 so we can beat the SEC.
